Relishing Rosary - Rolling!

Hi, today I am going to be showing you me and my friends (mostly my friend's) rosary work for this (and last) week. Our goal was to create a video showing younger kids the understanding and importance of the rosary. I gathered the information by listening to my teachers and inserting our knowledge into a video. (Link at the bottom).

Gus: The Rosary in 3 minutes!

Alex : The Rosary is normally prayed in October, and sometimes May (The month of Mary).

Boston: There are four mysteries in the Rosary.

Daniel: The Joyful Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries, the Glorious Mysteries and the Luminous Mysteries.

Gus: This is how you pray the Rosary.

Alex: First, you start with the Apostle’s Creed.

Boston: Then, you say 1 Our Father.

Daniel: Next, you say 3 Hail Marys.

Gus: Then, you say a Glory Be.

Alex: Then we start our first decade. We begin with Our Father.

Boston: Next we say 10 Hail Marys, and a Glory Be.

Daniel: Then we do our second decade.

Gus: Now we do the same thing as before. An Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, and a Glory Be.

Alex: We do that exact thing two more times for our third and fourth decades.

Boston: All of those decades were also mysteries.

Daniel: The Joyful Mysteries, the Glorious Mysteries, the Luminous Mysteries, and the Sorrowful Mysteries.

Gus: Remember to start and end the Rosary with the Sign of the Cross!

Alex: I hope we taught you how to pray the Rosary…

Boston: And if you have Rosary beads, then maybe you could do it right now!

All: Bye!

3/8 of 64...?

Exciting Era of Explanations!

Hi, today I'm going to be showing you the new form of writing I am doing for this term. My goal was to organise related ideas into paragraphs and use linking words and phrases to link some paragraphs. I gathered the information by listening to my group and searching on the internet.

How To Be A Good Friend

Being a nice friend is very important in your social life. But - how do you be one?

First of all, it is very easy to be a nice friend, but even easier to get mad and angry at them. Not normally would you try and hurt your friend, but sometimes you could be in a foul mood, or your friend is being mean to you, which is usually why you would be the opposite of a good friend. Even jealousy could trigger this.

Secondly, you could be a good friend by being loyal and gaining trust. Basically, with your friends, live by the motto, “Treat others how you want to be treated,”. If you think some of your friends are a little tight, you don’t have to worry, but still be kind and caring and do all the things you would need to do to be a good friend.

Lastly, being a good friend is not just a boost for wellbeing and social life for you, but for all your friends. I mean, there is no reason to not be a good friend. It’s fun for you, your friends, and eventually more!

In conclusion, being a good friend is easy, fun, and how to be one is all written down on this doc...

Are you a good friend...?

Tom Walsh´s Fact File

Tom Walsh is the 3rd best shot-putter in Olympic history. He lives in Prestons Park, Christchurch, New Zealand. He grew up on a farm around the exterior of Timaru. Tom Walsh has competed in every single Olympics from the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia to the 2021 Olympics at Tokyo, Japan. His personal best throw was at South Canterbury Athletic Club, Doha,
and, coached by Ian Baird, threw 22.90 meters. Walsh was born on the 1st March 1992. His parents are Karen Walsh and Peter Walsh and he has a brother called Bill Walsh. He started his shot-put career in 2009 at the World Youth Championships in Athletics, where he placed sixth.

Do you have a favourite athlete?

Stopping Static Image!

Hi, today I am going to be showing you the static image (a freeze frame of a time) that I have been working on for the past few weeks. It is about stereotyping, a mental bias judging people for doing something that is supposed to be for the other gender. My goal was to use visual language features to engage the audience.

I collected the data by looking at other examples of static images and transmitting it into this google drawing.

What would you do for a static image?

Confusing Cubed Calculations!

Hi, today I am going to be showing my maths create for this week. My goal was to create and use appropriate units and devices to measure volume.  Perform and calculate measures for volume using the same units.  Calculate volume and capacity of a variety of simple containers using different strategies.  Represent objects with drawings and models. I gathered this data by measuring and calculating accurate angle for a cuboid net, and after folding and measuring the cuboid´s lenght, width and height, I came to my estimated conclusion- 36cm3 and 72cm3.

What 3D shape can you name other than a cuboid?

Padding Persuasive Text!

Hi, today I am going to be showing you my persuasive text I made a few weeks ago during lockdown. My goal was to vary sentence beginnings, structures and length. Write simple and compound sentences (by using conjunctions). Use some complex sentences. Use simple and compound sentences with a variety of beginnings, lengths and structures. Use some complex sentences to create pace, flow and interest. Use linking words and phrases to link some paragraphs. I collected information by watching videos and recalling from earlier work.

  Should all Schooling Be Online?

Children beg for hours to go on devices. So should we have them at school? We all know that screens and technology get the better of kids, and, is it really helping if we´re adding school into the mix?

Hello, my name is Gus, and I am going to teach you something that's never been thought of before - kids, school and devices. Think about it. If all schooling was online, kids would have a dreadful, uncontrollable addiction to screens, not doing amazing things for the child's average eyesight. In fact, research shows that if kids spend a lot of time on devices, say, 4-5 hours a day, it could cause future blurry vision, eye discomfort and headaches.

Kids´ attention spans could decrease, which is not so good for focus in the classroom. What's more is that these devices can cost parents a fortune, whereas if only some or no schooling was online, a penny wouldn't have to be pulled from their pockets. I mean, without a doubt kids love these devices, but sometimes that can also cause behavioral problems. I don't even have to research to know that most kids that own a device end their screen time with sour faces, tears and even poor attitudes.

Did you know that most kids spend up to five hours a day on a device? As I mentioned earlier, side effects include eye effects, and to add to that, overweight risk and laziness. In my opinion, devices should be banned at school forever. Do you really want your kid on a device 5 days a week for hours at a time?

Super Persuasion Text!

Hi, today I am going to be showing you my persuasive writing for this week. My goal was to write a persuasive text about schools and junk food and show my understanding of text. I gathered the information by watching informational videos.

                                      Should Schools Ban Junk Food?

We all love the little treats packed in our school lunches. But is it best if we don't have them?

Hello, my name is Gus, and I am going to try to convince you of the obvious - should school lunches be free of junk food?

The little treats in kids´ lunches can go from a packet of chips to almost all of their lunches being jammed with unhealthy snacks. If kids had handfuls of sweets and chocolate in their lunches 5 times a school week, they would grow to be weak, a junk food addict, and would barely exercise. Cafeterias can often be found with untouched vegetable and meat options, but the chips and whatnot options would be left bare, children scoffing down the remains, demanding more. What's worse is in such a rush to splat a platter of junk food on their plates, they often trip or fall over, sometimes leading to serious injuries. And to top it all off, the poor cafeteria ladies have to throw smelly meat and vegetables away whilst restocking the chip option every single day. This can cost schools a lot of money, sometimes leading to classes like Music or Art being a budget cut. When it comes to parents, even small snacks like a fruit or muesli bar can be begged, pleaded and even aggressively attacked for. It is also clear that these unhealthy snacks make children extremely hyperactive, so during class time they barely pay attention, forcing teachers to raise their voice or even shout.

So what if we ban junk food? What would happen then...?

What would you try and persuade someone about?
