Eyes on Text: Reading Mileage
We have set ourselves a goal of reading aloud for 1/5/10 minutes everyday this week to try to increase our
  • Fluency - how MANY words we can read
  • Accuracy - how accurate we are at reading the words correctly

Get organised
  • Select the text you are going to read aloud
  • Have the cursor in the correct place on the table below
  • Get your timer ready (on your phone, your watch or use the Omnibox of the Chrome browser)
  • Use Voice Typing to record your voice as you read aloud:  Tools > Voice Typing

What are Jolly Jars?

What are jolly jars?

This term, our Project Based Learning (PBL) started with the teachers putting us into groups. In these groups we had to work collaboratively to create Jolly Jars for the school fair. This task helped us to begin exploring our PBL question for the term - How can we build community through our actions? We had to research ideas, be creative with our product, experiment with our materials and write instructions that could be followed by others.

Here is a link to my instructions.

I learnt that instructions need to have bossy verbs and steps for the things you need. They also need to make sense and have a title to explain what you’re making.

Reflection on PBL: Me and my group made origami dogs and cats because it was fun and easy. Our group all decorated a jar. Julian Chamoun did the instructions while me and the others worked on  the cat and dog faces. ( they were very good. )

For our Jolly Jar my group did origami because it is fun and ( most of the time ) easy.

I contributed to my group by making cat and dog faces. I listened to the ideas of others too.

Our Jolly Jar was creative because there were decorations and a dog face on top.

What I learned about working with others was it is fun to work as a team because we can do a lot if you work together.

How did we build community through our actions?
I did the comic sale, where we made around $50 in cash, and my parents did it with me and my friends were doing important stuff ( paying to do stuff, also part of building a community ) ).
